Kerrville-Based Jeweler James Avery Makes Donation in Honor of Mexican Sister City

Customized James Avery Money Clips will be Presented to Dignitaries during April 1st Visit

KERRVILLE, Texas – March 28, 2008 — James Avery Craftsman, a family-owned jeweler based in Kerrville, Texas, is making a special donation to the City of Kerrville which will be presented as gifts to Mexican dignitaries of Delicias, Chihuahua Mexico when the mayor visits next month.  Kerrville and the city of Delicias have recently formalized a Sister City program that will encourage the sharing of new ideas, and an exchange of information about local traditions and customs.money clip with inscription

James Avery, in support of this union of two cities, is donating fifteen sterling silver money clips to the City of Kerrville.  These money clips are engraved with the inscription:

Kerrville, Texas
Delicias, Chihuahua

“The people, culture, and artistry of Mexico have been a strong and positive influence on our company and designs throughout the years”, said Chris Avery, president and chief executive officer.  Mr. James Avery has had a respect and admiration for Mexican art and culture for many years, and has a bookcase in his office which includes many books on these topics.  Many of the designs in the James Avery jewelry line show this influence in both their designs and their product names.

This sister-city project started with Professor Raul Garcia of Chihuahua, who was interested in creating a partnership with Kerrville to encourage exchange students between the communities.  He traveled to Kerrville with Mayor Villalobos of Delicias and met with the city council, and earlier this year a resolution was formed making the sister-city concept official.

Kerrville Mayor Gene Smith will travel with his wife and the James Avery gifts to Delicias next month for the Mexican city’s 75th anniversary celebration on April 1st.  “Every time Mayor Villalobos and Professor Garcia came to visit Kerrville they would bring gifts, so I wanted to bring something special to them.  I talked to James Avery and he suggested the engraved money clips.” The fifteen money clips will be presented to the Delicias city council members and the Governor.
