James Avery to Open Store in Mall

James Avery will open a jewelry store at the Victoria Mall on Oct. 3.

The 2,100-square-foot store will offer silver, gold and gemstone jewelry, said Sara Hegener, the company’s marketing manager. Much of its merchandise is faith oriented.

James Avery is working on “slow and steady growth,” introducing a couple new stores a year, Hegener said, and chose Victoria because the city already has a strong customer base.

“We saw a lot of sales coming out of the Victoria area, and that’s what piqued our interest,” she said.

The Victoria store marks the company’s 48th location, she said.

A grand opening ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 23, Hegener said, and will include a meet and greet with the Avery family and jewelry giveaways.

The store will open with a management group and small staff at first, but will fluctuate seasonally, regional manager Lisa Lemire said.

During the holiday season the store will employ about 17 people.

Store hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Lemire said. The store is located across from Casa Ole.

Native Victorian Connie Martinez will serve as the store manager, she said, and James Avery is accepting employment applications.
